"Red-bellied Woodpecker"

Ridgewood, New Jersey

This female red-bellied was an occasional visitor to our feeder in the spring.  The male was around but never came to the feeder. This bird is much larger than the downy (about 9'' rather than 6") and is very handsome.  The framing in this shot is provided by nearby trees and shadows. Shot on Privia-F film at IS0 160 with a 600mm lens at f-5.6 and 1/160sec.
